This vehicle, also called 'radio car' 'Funk-Kraftwagen (FuKw)' had 7 seats for the crew, thereof 5 in the operating room. It's duty was to transport material for field telephony and raising a technical command unit as well as working as a independent radio station for example for a command unit or radio relais station. It was equipped with 2 built-in 4 meter radios to work on two independent radio circuits. One could be switched to an external antenna extendable to a height of 6,5 meters for higher range. In addition a 2 meter walkie-talkie can be switched into a radio circuit on this wavelength. The equipment was completed by a generator with 850 watts maximum output, an isolating transformator to use external power and a connection facility to public phones.
The car's type was a Daimler-Benz L 407 D-KA/29,5 and has been built in 1982.
The main assembly was made by 'Odenwaldwerke'
and reconstructed by the Hamburg VFD later on.
The motor has been a type OM616, it was a 4-in line-cylinder diesel with 2350 cubic centimeters (364 cubic inches) cylinder capacity and a power of 53 kilowatts (72 hp) at a rotation of 4400 per minute. Maximum speed 102 km/h (63 mph), it had a maximum grade ability of 30 percent.
Some additional data: Empty weight 2,48 tons (2.73 us-tons), maximum weight 4 tons (4.41 us-tons) which makes a usable payload of 0.52 tons (0.57 us-tons). Length (without the ladder to climb the roof) 5,16 meters (16 ft 11.2 in), width (without exterior mirror) 2,015 metes (6 ft 7.3 in) and height (including the flashers) 2,7 meters (8 ft 10.3 in).
The car was equipped with a ball-shaped head towing device (maximum weight on it of 50 kg), the trailers load had been up to 1600 kg pulling a trailer with brakes or 1000 kg without brakes. Further on it contained a roof rack, an auxiliary heating system and an additional car battery (normal 12 volt system).

With the delivery of a new truck the radio car was taken away from the Eimsbuettel VFD.
